hello internet? it’s me oliver.

(put radio static here) Woah hello! Welcome to my website - this might be my fifth post but it’s my first post with a completely completed website!

I mean like most great things, is it ever really finished? - I’ve got some things left to tinker but others than that my website is live. If you read my writing then thank you, I’m getting better at taking feedback so feel free to give me some (or don’t).

I wrote love tree in summer 2022 - it was a small script for a friend of mine, it came at a strange time in my life. I’d finally gotten myself surrounded by love and friends, but I was feeling very isolated and unloved and love tree was sort of the love I desired. The original concept was as follows:

A single tree sat atop a hill possesses magical abilities, being able to connect individual souls together, no matter the distance. The tree would be the vocal point as we saw the earth age and love evolve over time. I wanted to write about love in every century.

The train to anywhere was the script I’d written as part of my submission to LMJU up in Liverpool (I did get in!) It came from my fear of waisting my own life. For those of you who know me, I’m not always the most determined of people and there were times where I would just do nothing - that maybe I was wasting my own life. It’s quite similar to seeing all your friends living their best lives online, while you feel almost trapped in your own life. It’s silly because these days people, my generation in particular have so much “freedom” with social media, we can make whatever we want, so why can’t I? What’s stopping me? And these 15 pages were supposed to express this fear I had.

And The imagination of Mac Welkin, these were the few pages I wanted to share. I wrote this during my final year at University, I wasn’t exceptionally proud of it or anything, it was sort of just another script I had written but this one was inspired by addiction and isolation.

I’ll throw up some others as I start writing more, I have some good ideas and plenty of free time. Until then, enjoy the rest of my site and my blog as that rolls out! - I’m going to try write at least one post a week but we all know how life can get.

Until then, live long and prosper.

All Love, Oliver x
